This year in the garden we harvested so, so many tomatoes. Garlic grew awesome, too. I’ve been able to do quite a bit of canning, something that is fairly new to me. My great aunts gifted me two canners and several canning jars to add to my ever growing collection. I tried Garden Special and carrot tomato soup . Both delicious! Also in the pantry is canned applesauce. The freezer seems quite full these days with beef, corn and still pork from our pig so canned applesauce it was this year.
Another thing brewing in my kitchen has been Tumeric tea. I have had a head cold and sore throat on and off for about a week now and this tea was first given to me by a friend. Then when it came back a second time I got the recipe and made up another batch. It seems to work really great to soothe a sore throat. I drink it hot on and off throughout the day. Here’s the recipe-
Boil two cups of water and add 1 teaspoon turmeric and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Let steep in boiling water few minutes. Juice 1/8 to 1/4 of a lemon and add to the tea. Then add 1-2 tablespoon honey. Drink hot or cold!
