DIY envelope pillow cover

A few months ago I spotted some canvas fabric on clearance at JoAnn Fabrics.  I had in mind to make a pillow cover with it one day.  I began searching for tutorials on Pinterest and found one here.

Supplies:
Fabric- heavier weight is best
Scissors
Pencil or fabric marker
Tape Measure
Iron
Sewing Machine with matching thread

First I cut my fabric to measure 18” by 40”. (the pillow I was using measures 18×18”)

Then I measured 11” on one side and marked it.

Then I steamed each side down 1/4” with a hot iron.

Then I folded both side in, letting them overlap.  I used my marker at 11” for one side and the other I just folded until it overlapped about 3 1/2 inches.

Then I sewed both side (but not the overlapping sides). That creates your envelope.

Turn it inside out and stuff with pillow and you are DONE!

Total project time was only 30 minutes.
